Pastor Jim gave the 27th installment of his series on the book of Romans called, “Grace Unveiled.” We’re in the seventh chapter, nicknamed by scholars as “Law School.” Romans chapter six tells us that sin has no more dominion over you. The reason is because you’re not under the law; instead, you’re under grace. Yet, many believers are living as though they are under Old Covenant law. How does that happen? Their mentality is Old Covenant, not New Covenant. Pastor Jim explains how that happens.

What comes out of your mouth matters! If you’re speaking faith in church but speaking doubt and unbelief outside of church, your life won’t be filled with faith. Church is only a few hours (or less!) each week. Your words inside those walls matter, but so do your words outside of church. In fact, your voice is your GPS, spiritually speaking. It provides direction to where you will be going. That’s why guest minister Mark Hankins spent all weekend reminding us that our faith pulls things from the spiritual realm into the natural realm, and our faith is activated through our words. Our words can proclaim our faith, so keep an eye on what you are saying!

Centuries ago, when David first saw Goliath, he didn’t shrink in fear. He spoke. He proclaimed what he believed—and if he did have any qualms about taking down Goliath, he used his words to eliminate his fear. He spoke faith—and we can do the same as he did!
A spirit of faith believes and then proclaims that belief! In fact, if you don’t feel that your belief is where you want it to be, you can school yourself into faith with your own words. You can run at your enemy with mouth open, reminding your body, your soul, and your spirit that God’s Spirit is at work on the inside of you! You are more than an overcomer in Christ Jesus. You are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath.
If you don’t choose faith-filled words, your faith can get squelched under the weight of daily circumstance and difficult adversity. Words about all that God has for you can keep you focused on your faith.

The Faith of a Roman Officer
When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him, 6 “Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.”
Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.”
But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. 9 I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.”
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!
