Making a Difference in Our Community

So much is happening in the world right now. We want to make sure Living Word is a light and support to our community during these unprecedented times. We want to lead by compassion and wisdom. Our plan to help our community is to have a long-term approach so we are still helping those in need when the dust has settled, and the cameras have been turned off. Thanks to your support, we are making an impact in our community. Living Word is also a preferred partner with Good in the ‘Hood so we can better help our community in new ways.

Here’s what are we doing as a church.

  • Collected over 18,000 pounds of food during Drive Thru Food Drives held at various campuses
  • Provided 1,000 protective face masks for our medical community
  • Delivered 1,200 meals to the Allina Health EMS hub to serve the EMS professionals
  • Transported over 200,000 pounds of food to those in need in our community
  • Distributed over 8,000 boxes of food to schools, organizations, and those in need in our community
  • Delivered 700 meals and 350 cases of water to those in need in the Minneapolis area affected by the riots
  • Helped with cleanup and repairs of areas in Minneapolis affected by the riots

Supporting local churches in the Twin Cities
On a monthly basis, we continue to support churches within the Twin Cities with their outreaches as well, such as Camden Promise, a meal ministry of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, and the Beacon of Hope Community Meal and Food Shelf. The need for food continues to increase in the Twin Cities. Living Word is committed to working with others to provide these ministry opportunities around the cities. Thank you to our volunteers and Pastor Jean for making this happen on a regular basis.

Ongoing Outreach
We will continue to work with our partner, Good in the ‘Hood to utilize our facility and equipment here at Living Word to pack and distribute food to those in need in the Twin Cities. We have a food donation box located outside the main lobby doors so you can drop off nonperishable food donations at any time.

TEXT TO GIVE
Every donation toward outreach helps us to provide more relief to those in need. Text LWOUTREACH and the amount to 28950 (ex: lwoutreach 20).

We are always collecting items to help those in need. Donations can be dropped off in the bin outside our main lobby doors at our Brooklyn Park campus.

  • Bring shoes (up to 50 pairs at any one time) to any of the nine Schuler Shoes stores in the Twin Cities.
  • Host a neighborhood/family shoe collection and bring them to the Good in the ‘Hood warehouse (8063 Ranchers Rd NE, Fridley, MN 55432) any Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 8:30–2 p.m.
