What Are We Doing As A Church?

Here’s what we have accomplished so far this year:

  • Delivered 300 snack packs to Crest View Elementary in Brooklyn Park (1/14)
  • Donated $2245 worth of gift cards to Champlin Park High School social workers (2/9)
  • Delivered 3000 meals to Allina Hub through Show The Love (Buy A Meal-Give A Meal) outreach in February (2/1-2/28)
  • Collected $4417.84 during Change for Change campaign. Proceeds went to Project Bread of Life, a ministry in Guatemala helping homeless children. (3/1-3/30)
  • Donated $1587.63 worth of snacks and supplies to Champlin Park High School (4/27)
  • Collected and donated groceries and personal supplies to Brooklyn Center Community (after Daunte Wright shooting.)
  • Collected $2,524.20 during our Baby Blessing drive to donate to Robbinsdale Women’s Center. (4/17-4/21)
  • Provided 500 meals at the Minneapolis Community Cookout (7/24)
  •  Provided 400 backpacks filled with school supplies to entire student body at CrestView Elementary and 50 families in need in our community. (8/17)

Partnership With Good in the ‘Hood
Living Word is preferred partners with Good in the ‘Hood to help provide assistance all over the Twin Cities. We will continue to utilize our resources, facility, and equipment here at Living Word to help distribute food and other aid to those in need. If you’d like to volunteer at one of the Good in the ‘Hood programs, click the “What Can I Do to Help” tab to find more information.

What Can I Do to Help?

GIVE ONLINE
Every donation toward outreach helps us to provide more relief to those in need. 

DONATE ITEMS
We are always collecting items to help those in need. Donations can be dropped off in the bin outside our main lobby doors at our Brooklyn Park campus.

Nonperishable Items Needed: 
Canned chicken, canned tuna, canned or dry beans, peanut butter, hearty soups and chili, cereal, rice, pasta, Ramen, packaged instant meals, canned fruit in juice (not syrup), canned vegetables, (low or no sodium), spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes (sauce/diced/whole/paste), coffee/tea, cooking oil/olive oil, salad dressings, salsa, seasonings and condiments.

Personal Care Items Needed:
Diapers, baby formula, deodorant, toilet paper, paper towels, wet wipes, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Donate Shoes for Shoe Away Hunger Program:
Shoe Away Hunger is a Good in the ‘Hood program where footwear is turned around to provide an eco-friendly means of support for the Feeding The Future programs. New or slightly used shoes are ALWAYS wanted and needed. Here is how you can donate shoes to this program:

  • Bring shoes (up to 50 pairs at any one time) to any of the nine Schuler Shoes stores in the Twin Cities.
  • Host a neighborhood/family shoe collection and bring them to the Good in the ‘Hood warehouse (8063 Ranchers Rd NE, Fridley, MN 55432) any Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 8:30–2 p.m.
  • Call Pastor Jamie Morrison at 612.440.7463 to schedule a shoe drop.
