The Spirit of Faith | Mark Hankins | October 16, 2022

What comes out of your mouth matters! If you’re speaking faith in church but speaking doubt and unbelief outside of church, your life won’t be filled with faith. Church is only a few hours (or less!) each week. Your words inside those walls matter, but so do your words outside of church. In fact, your voice is your GPS, spiritually speaking. It provides direction to where you will be going. That’s why guest minister Mark Hankins spent all weekend reminding us that our faith pulls things from the spiritual realm into the natural realm, and our faith is activated through our words. Our words can proclaim our faith, so keep an eye on what you are saying!

Dive Deeper:
Centuries ago, when David first saw Goliath, he didn’t shrink in fear. He spoke. He proclaimed what he believed—and if he did have any qualms about taking down Goliath, he used his words to eliminate his fear. He spoke faith—and we can do the same as he did!

A spirit of faith believes and then proclaims that belief! In fact, if you don’t feel that your belief is where you want it to be, you can school yourself into faith with your own words. You can run at your enemy with mouth open, reminding your body, your soul, and your spirit that God’s Spirit is at work on the inside of you! You are more than an overcomer in Christ Jesus. You are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath.

If you don’t choose faith-filled words, your faith can get squelched under the weight of daily circumstance and difficult adversity. Words about all that God has for you can keep you focused on your faith.

If you’re not happy with what you have in life, check out what you’ve been saying. Your confession of faith and the words that come out of your mouth will change the scenery in your life.

The Faith of a Roman Officer
When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him, 6 “Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.”

Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.”

But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. 9 I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!

Pastor Ken Olson shared with us a message on “Finding Your Voice in Prayer.” Noting that our nation’s Declaration of Independence declares that we, as citizens, have the right to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. He further added, “There’s nothing more empowering, more enabling to pursue life, liberty, and happiness and so many other things that God has planned for our lives than a pursuit of a lifelong relationship through prayer with our Heavenly Father.” Heaven isn’t just a place. Dr. James Tan | Power and Fire, Part 3

Dr. James Tan was our special guest speaker. He spoke about the supernatural power people receive when they experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Entitled, “Power and Fire,” Dr. James taught all three weekend services on the basic fundamental truths concerning a believer’s encounter with Holy Ghost power! He stressed how important it is for all believers to have their own personal encounters with God the Holy Ghost for themselves. “You can’t live off someone else’s testimony,” he said. “You have to get your own experiences about encountering the power of the Holy Spirit for yourself.”
