How God Honors Motherhood | Jim Hammond

Recap

Pastor Jim celebrated all the mothers with a special Mother’s Day message, making the point that no one enters this world without a mom. Even God the Son, Jesus Christ, entered into this world through the womb of His mother! He expressed an appreciation for the herculean effort mothers put forth in the taking care of and the nurturing of her children!

Dive Deeper

Adam called his wife “Eve,” which means “life spring.” Mothers are a spring of life because no one enters this world without a mom.

Even God Himself, Jesus Christ, had to enter this world through a mom. God used Mary’s womb to carry the Son of God for nine months to fulfill His promise of salvation. You could say God honored pregnancy and motherhood by bringing Jesus Christ into the world in this way.

Pastor Jim shared how he coached high school girls’ basketball for 17 years. He witnessed firsthand the devotion of mothers in how they were faithful in the raising of their children, and how mothers willingly and routinely sacrificed for their children.

He said 1st Corinthians 13:8 is reflected in a mother’s love: “Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.” He said he saw how a mother’s love never fails, never fades out or becomes obsolete, and never comes to an end.

Pastor Jim went over scriptures that reveal how God stands when it comes to your parents, with mothers.

The New Testament says if you honor your parents, you’ll have a long life. And if you flip that? If you don’t honor your parents, you’ll have a short life.

Pastor Jim asked the congregants to examine themselves with regard to how they treated their mothers. Examine your life. Are there things that are not going right in your life? Then look at your relationship with your mother. Are you treating her right?

A famous author once said, “I realized that when you look at your mother, you’re looking at the purest love you’ll ever know.”

God created mothers to have this sort of sacrificial love because that’s how He loves us. A mother’s love is married to the heart of God Himself.

Discussion Questions

A good way to gain an appreciation for your mother is to make a list of all the ways your mother has loved you sacrificially. What are some of the things you might put on that list?

Pastor Jim encouraged us to examine ourselves on how we treat our mothers. What kind of grade would you give yourself?

The Accuser of Brethren | Mac Hammond

Pastor Mac taught a message entitled, “The Accuser of Brethren.” “This message is important,” he said, “because it encapsulates our challenge in this life and summarizes things in a significant way.” His subject? How to avoid deception! The basic truth of this message is this: If the enemy can’t deceive you, he can’t defeat you!

GRACE UNVEILED, #33, “The Holy Spirit Leads You Out of the Dominion of Sin” | Jim Hammond

Pastor Jim preached a message subtitled, “The Holy Spirit Leads You Out of the Dominion of Sin.” This is his 33rd message in his teaching series on the book of Romans called “Unveiled Grace.” The message was based on Romans 8:13, “For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.” (Amp.) This verse tells us that through the Holy Spirit, we have the power to put to death the evil deeds of the body.

Portal of Power | Mac Hammond

Pastor Mac taught a message on the celebration of Easter. He said, “The kingdom of God is based upon the Word of God. In fact, the kingdom of God is a manifestation of the Word of God and His purposes on the earth.” The celebration of Easter is a centerpiece of all that He’s done to enable humanity to rise to the level only possible in Him—and to escape the realm of death!

GRACE UNVEILED: “From Condemnation to Fulfillment” #31

Pastor Jim taught the 31st message in his series on Romans: “Unveiling Grace.” The Bible is clear, under the New Covenant, there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Yet many believers are walking around under the weight of condemnation. Pastor Jim explains these believers are trying to absolve themselves of their sins through their own self-effort, which is another way of saying “through their flesh.” What they’re trying to do is live under Old Covenant laws. There’s a word for Christians like that—miserable!
