Pastor Russell Kalenberg | May 30, 2021

Recap:
In today’s society, truth has become hard to identify. That’s why it is important that we recognize the Word of God is our benchmark, our marker on which truth is found. That’s what guest minister Pastor Russell Kalenberg talked about this past weekend. He provided five ways in which the Word of God can be a standard in our lives that cannot be moved; this standard is a solid foundation on which our whole lives can be confidently built.

Dive Deeper:
A survey monument cannot be moved. It’s a reference point to the surrounding area. It decides boundaries and is a benchmark for truth. This past weekend, Pastor Russell drew the connection to how the Word of God is a survey marker in our lives and a benchmark by which everything else can be measured. That means when the world around us is faltering, unsure of what is truth, we can look to the Bible and find a standard for truth that is unshakeable.

Deception is too common in the day we are living. Many are deceived, but we won’t be deceived if we are certain of our source of truth. When the light of God’s Word shines, it will always disperse darkness and let truth be known.

When we build our lives upon the truth of God’s Word, it provides course correction. It lets light into our lives. It provides legal weight that can settle boundary disputes. The enemy can’t prevail when we remind him of the unchangeable standards of God’s Word!

The Holy Spirit helps us understand how the Word can be our standard. He reveals what we need to know about the Bible, and encourages us in our daily lives.

Psalm 119:89 NKJV
Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.

John 17:17 NKJV
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

2 Timothy 3:13-16 NKJV
But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

Luke 6:47-49 TPT
Let me describe the one who truly follows me and does what I say: He is like a man who chooses the right place to build a house and then lays a deep and secure foundation. When the storms and floods rage against that house, it continues to stand strong and unshaken through the tempest, for he built it wisely on the right foundation. But the one who has heard my teaching and does not obey it is like a man who builds a house without laying any foundation at all. When the storms and floods rage against that house, it will immediately collapse and become a total loss. Which of these two builders will you be?

1 John 3:23 NKJV
And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

Revelation 22:18-19 NKJV
For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

John 16:13 NKJV
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Discussion Questions:
1. When truth seems hard to find, how can the Word of God illuminate truth for us?

2. How do our words tell us what the foundation of our life is?

3. How does compromise hurt our lives?

4. When the enemy has breached boundary lines, what can we do to remind him of the boundaries of God’s Word?

A Faith-Building Weekend With Nancy Dufresne

What a weekend we had with guest minister Nancy Dufresne. She shared on the power of faith and reminded us that God and the Holy Spirit should always remain our focus. That means when we face difficulty, listening to the Holy Spirit, our guide on the inside, is the best thing that we can do. You can walk in faith toward your miracle!

GRACE UNVEILED: “All Under Sin,” #7 | Jim Hammond

Pastor Jim delivered his seventh installment in his series on the book of Romans, entitled, “Grace Unveiled.” The first three chapters of Romans focuses explicitly on the definition of sin. “Because,” as Pastor Jim says, “if you don’t understand what sin is, you will not understand the solution to the sin problem.” Paul wanted them to understand that all of mankind has a sin problem, and no matter who you are, you will never, ever be able to achieve righteousness through your own merit. If doesn’t matter if you’re a secular pagan who worships Zeus or a religious Jew who strictly follows the law, God will never see you as righteous through your own effort. Pastor Jim has much more to say in this message subtitled, “All Under Sin.”

They Brought | Mac Hammond

Last Sunday, Pastor Mac taught a message entitled, “They Brought.” He said, “If you’re in a relationship with the Lord, you’re in a covenant with Him. And that covenant is one of blessing.” Yet, many covenant believers do not seem to walk in the level of blessing the Bible promises. Why is that? Pastor Mac said walking fully in the provision and purpose of God begins by understanding what the definition of a covenant actually is.

Focus for Effect #4: The Resurrection of Christ | Pastor Mac Hammond

What a wonderful Easter weekend we had as we celebrated Jesus! His resurrection is the focal point for our faith, for it bridges the gap between the seen realm and the unseen realm. As you go through your day today, remember that the resurrection power of Jesus has the ability to raise your circumstances high above anything you can imagine. The touch of death does not need to destroy your life! God’s resurrection power is at work in you and through you to touch this world for Him.

Grace Unveiled: Everyone Is Guilty (Rom. 2:1–9)  | Jim Hammond

Pastor Jim gave the fifth installment of his series entitled, “Grace Unveiled.” The first three chapters of Romans can be summed up by saying people who rely on their own righteousness, their own ability, their own self-effort will not escape the judgment of God. It is only through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ can any man escape His judgment. In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul defines New Testament righteousness as the ability to stand before God without a sense of guilt or inferiority.
