Shoe Away Hunger

Update:

The Shoe Away Hunger Drive is now closed. Partnering with Good in the Hood was a blessing to support our surrounding community.

At the beginning of the month, we had a simple goal to collect 275 pairs of shoes. This quickly became a powerhouse of endless possibilities when we realized we had reached our goal within the first two weeks!

On June 28, our Youth space was transformed into an Outreach Facility. The youth sorted, sanitized, packaged, and prayed over the shoes and the recipients/families who it would bless.
As a church, we sponsored a shoe bus to support families and individuals with affordable shoes. This shoe bus goes directly into the communities to support their needs. A single-shoe bus event provides a week’s worth of meals to approximately 50-100 households. Truly a 2-for-1 giving special!

We didn’t stop there. We encouraged you to match our shoe bus donation, and you all went above and beyond to support the cause. By June 28, we had collected 540 pairs of shoes! In one month, we helped and fed approximately 450-900 households. Our outreach efforts grew to bless about 500-1000 households. This is a perfect example of how simple it is to reach people, touch lives, and make a difference.

Living Word is hosting a shoe drive for our partners at Good in the ‘Hood in order to help fund meals through their hunger relief program. We are accepting new or gently used shoes all month long.

If you aren’t aware, Good in the ‘Hood has been assisting the needs of our community for years, and one of the ways in which they have helped is by shoe donations. Those unwanted shoes can aid a starving child or homeless individual. Join us and put your best foot forward.

We’ve sponsored a Shoe Bus for a neighboring location and challenge you to match our efforts by donating 275 pairs of shoes. You can drop off your donations at the Brooklyn Park Campus located at 9201 75th Ave N Brooklyn Park, MN 55429. You’ll find our donation bins located in the Main Lobby under our “You are Loved” sign. Upon arrival, simply place your donated shoes in the bin and we’ll do the rest!
