The Epistle Prayers

EPHESIANS 1:16–21 (AMPC) & 1:22–23 (KJ)

16) I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers. 17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant unto me (us) a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, 18) by having the eyes of my (our) heart(s) flooded with light, so that I (we) can know and understand the hope to which He has called me (us), and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones), 19) and [so that I (we) can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for me (us) because I (we) believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, 20) which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places], 21) far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come. 22) And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church me (us), 23) which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all.

EPHESIANS 3:16–18 (AMPC) & 3:19–21 (KJ)

16) May He grant me (us) out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling my (our) innermost being(s) and personality]. 17) May Christ through my (our) faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in my (our) hearts! May I (we) be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love, 18) that I (we) may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it]; 19) and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that I (we) might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20) Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that I (we) ask, think, pray, or dream according to the power that worketh in us, 21) to Him be glory in the church and by Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

6) I (We) are confident of this very thing, that You who have begun a good work in me (us) will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

9) I (We) pray that my (our) love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight, that my (our) love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment, 10) So that I (we) may surely learn to sense what is vital and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value, recognizing the highest and the best, and distinguishing the moral differences, that I (we) may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless, so that with hearts sincere and certain and unsullied, I (we) may approach the day of Christ not stumbling nor causing others to stumble. 11) May I (we) abound in and be filled with the fruits of righteousness, of right standing with God and right doing, which come through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), to the honor and praise of You (God) [that Your (God) glory may be both manifested and recognized.

9) I (We) do not cease to pray and make special requests for me (us), asking that I (we) may be filled with the full, deep, and clear knowledge of Your (God) will in all spiritual wisdom and comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of You (God) and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things. 10) That I (we) may walk, live, and conduct myself (ourselves) in a manner worthy of You (God), fully pleasing You (God) and desiring to please You (God) in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of You (God) with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition into You (God). 11) I (We) pray may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of Your (God) glory, to exercise every kind of endurance and patience, perseverance, and forbearance and do it with joy. 12) Thank You, Father, for qualifying me (us) and making me (us) fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints, God’s holy people, in the light. 13) Thank You, Father, for delivering me (us) and drawing me (us) to Yourself out of the control and dominion of darkness and transferring me (us) into the kingdom of the Son of Your love. 14) In whom I (we) have redemption through His blood, which means the forgiveness of my (our) sins.
