For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
We have been redeemed from the curse of the law. That’s one of the things we celebrate every Easter as we think back to Jesus’ death and resurrection. The question that often pops up in people’s minds, though, is Why do I still experience the curse, even though I’m doing my best to walk in faith and focus on the Word?
Pastor Mac answered that question by looking at the resurrection of Lazarus. When Lazarus exited the grave, he was still bound by grave clothes. Until those grave clothes were removed, he could not fully experience the life to which Jesus had raised him once again. But once the grave clothes were removed, he was free.
According to Hebrews 2:14–15, the grave clothes Lazarus had removed are equivalent to the fear of death in our lives. In other words, when the Lord resurrects dead things in our lives, the next step for us is to ensure that all signs of fear are removed as well. We do this by applying the three-fold cord Paul talks about in 2 Timothy 1:7. To find out more, listen to Pastor Mac’s full message.
