Identify and follow the call of God on your life.

What does God want you to do with your life?

The answer may be easier to determine than you might think. When you delight yourself in God and spend time getting to know Him, God will bend your natural desires to be what He wants. That means if you desire to work with kids, God had probably called you to work with kids in some way. In fact, when you are fulfilling the calling on your life, you are doing ministry work, expanding God’s kingdom. As Pastor Mac talked about this past weekend, God has called you to penetrate the darkness with the light of His kingdom. To find out more, listen to the first message in his new series, Kingdom Calling.

As we move closer to God, He will draw us to the path He wants us to take to influence the world for Him. He does this through directing our desires, and those desires are cultivated through our communion with God.

A key way we influence people in our calling is through our success. God wants us to be the best we can be at what we do, and then turn around and impart that to others. As we succeed personally and then help others to succeed, it draws people toward our Heavenly Father. Another way God pulls us to Him is through our dreaming. God wants us to dream about the possibilities He can take our lives as we follow Him! These are all ways we step closer to our Kingdom Calling. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. –Psalm 37:4

Don’t let unanswered questions sabotage your faith.

Unanswered questions about the kingdom of God can often sabotage people’s faith. Questions, however, are not a sign that you shouldn’t believe, but rather that you should lean in closer to God. God talks in His Word about various mysteries in His kingdom. He’s not keeping these mysteries from you; He’s keeping them for you. He’s just waiting for you to seek Him to find the answers He has for you. This past weekend, Pastor Mac began talking about the mystery of His will. What is His will for us? He has a specific will for us, both corporately and individually. We find out His corporate will for us as we sit under our local pastor! Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. –John 20:29

The Holy Spirit will reveal it to you!

God wants you to reveal His kingdom to the world. One of the ways you do that is through following His plan for your life. How do you know what His plan is? The job of the Holy Sprit is to reveal God’s plan to you. As you spend time praying in tongues, you pray out mysteries regarding that plan. As you focus your mind and heart on receiving from God, He will bring ideas to you about the direction you should take! Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. –Romans‬ ‭8:26-27

Sow God’s Word

As we pursue our Kingdom Calling, it’s important we understand the various mysteries of the kingdom that God has hidden for us to find. One of those mysteries is that of sowing and reaping. Galatians 6:7 tells us that our harvest in life depends entirely on what we sow. What do we sow? God’s Word. Where do we sow it? In people’s hearts. These are two of the concepts that Pastor Mac went over this past weekend. He also reiterated that we can’t plant seed in other people’s lives until we have cultivated the garden of our own hearts. Once we have produced fruit, we can turn around and plant the seed from that fruit in other people’s lives. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables…. And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? –Mark 4:11, 13

One key to following our Kingdom Calling is cultivating our hearts to receive God’s Word.

Some people never receive the Word because they have a hard heart. Their job is to soften the soil of their hearts so the seed of God’s Word can be planted. Other people have to deal with rocky soil. They have to learn how to put down deep roots so their seed can grow to its full height. What should you do when seed is planted amidst thorns? And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended. –Mark 4:15–17

A Heart of Faith

As we follow the call of God on our lives, we must learn to identify worldly ideas from godly ideas. Worldly ideas choke out godly ones. People can hear the Word and have it planted and growing in their hearts, but if they don’t cultivate the garden of their hearts and eliminate “weed seeds,” their harvest will be limited. What are these worldly ideas? As Pastor Mac explained this past weekend, Jesus identified them in the parable of the sower as the cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things. Keeping our hearts and minds clear of these weeds allows God’s Word to grow strong in our hearts. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. –Mark‬ ‭4:18–19‬
