FAQs for 242
Frequently Asked Questions
What is 242? The small group, 242, is a program of Family Support Ministry for children age 4 to youth up to 19 years of age.
What does the name "242" mean? It comes from Acts 2:42. NASB
How can my child participate in 242? Simply enroll your child in a weekly 242 group in his/her age appropriate area.
What is "enrollment" and how do I enroll? Make a commitment to attend the same service each week, fill out an enrollment card, and bring it to your child's classroom.
Why is it important that my child commit to the same service each week?- Godly relationships (help them make friends)
- Weekly discipleship
- To provide another voice that is saying the same things mom and dad are saying.
What's changing from a "normal" service? We are providing small group discussion time at each of the weekend services with the same kids and a consistent leader for your child.
What will they be teaching in the 242 groups? The goal of the 242 group is to help reinforce the "bottom line" of each service (the main topic of the teaching for the day). They will reinforce the main points of the teaching from that day and review the teaching from the week before.
What if my child can't be there every week (i.e. — sports, illness)? Our goal with each child having the same group each week is to provide consistency — the benefit being each child gaining quality friendships with his/her peers and leaders in his/her 242 group. In case they cannot attend the same service, they should still be enrolled in the 242 group of the service you consistently attend. When they do change services, they will still be able to attend a 242 group at that service.
